That's how politics works. It's obviously a spectator sport.

Looks like he's off to a good start, at least.

Not thrilled with the use of executive order, but at least they're orders that seem to be for good changes.

Of course, the big problem with executive orders is the more of them a president gives, the more latitude his successors have to make even more. Bush and Obama both issued a sizable number of them, so we'll see if the new President follows suit.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Using Executive Orders only expands executive power and cements it's place. Not happy about another executive circumventing the legislature and unbalancing the 3 branches.

As for his "big" 2A announcement...

Existing federal law is already a gross infringement of the clearly worded 2nd Amendment. Asking the government to give you permission to keep and bear... infringement.

proving your a free citizen before exercising your enumerated right... infringement.

The 2nd Amendment functioned as it was written for close to 150 years before the government started meddling in it, and adding expensive and ultimately useless red tape and oversight they have no Constitutional power to do. The only logical way to abide by the first slide, is to start repealing the existing laws around gun control. Murder is still against the law. Gross Negligence resulting in harm or death is still against the law. Sorry, but this big pro-2A push he says he's doing is nothing of the sort.

Oh and national conceal carry reciprocity is another trojan horse that entrenches government control over individual rights.

You guys are right. We need to impeach this traitor right away and set Queen Hillary upon her rightful throne.

If only she was in, we'd be getting some GOOD actions out of the government, instead of all this "using existing precedent to advance causes" crap.

Don't worry; you guys are fully entrenched in your "nothing Donald Trump can ever do will be good" corner. We all know that you don't like him, didn't support him, and are going to be going after everything he does to prove how evil he is. Maybe the NY Times is hiring...

How dare this guy support the Second Amendment, but use wording that b0b doesn't like? How dare he remove taxpayer money from supporting abortion by using executive orders? The man is a monster!

saying he supports the 2nd amendment is like saying i support the only path to heaven is through faith in Jesus Christ... so therefore we should continue with these plenary indulgences.

he has done some good things, like a lot of his noms, Mexico City... hes also done some bad things, like ending TPP and possibly ending NAFTA, lip service to 2A, and basically not having a single understanding of how our government is supposed to work. Meanwhile, Congress just lets him do it.

my problem is the people who berated Obama for 8 years for doing the things Trump is doing now and celebrating it as wonderful.

Yesterday he hinted at martial law in Chicago... he's got zero authority to do anything in Chicago. But hey, Trump, so all good!

The DOW went from 9000 to 19000 under Obama and conservatives argued that the POTUS has no bearing on the market, Under Trump it's gone up like .5% and conservatives are heralding him as the great economic savior of the west.

Trump's presidency is proving that Constitutionalism is dead. C'est la vie....

You've so perfectly captured my concerns and position here. I'm touched.

Sorry. I just don't think executive orders are a good thing in general (unless they're to strip past president's executive orders directly). They're not in keeping with the separation of powers, and the more every president makes them, the more will be made in the future.

You do realize the House just voted to permanently de-fund abortion in the US, right? That just happened. No executive order required. They could do the same for overseas abortions.

And honestly, as b0b is kind of alluding to (with the different reactions to the movement of the stock market under the different Commanders-in-Chief), the whole "left vs. right" landscape of our country is no more significant for actual change than a spectator sport. Each team spotlights certain issues to win support, they get in power, and do whatever they will do. In some ways, I'm glad Trump won the election. But his character and demeanor are unfit for his office. And honestly, I'm ultimately convinced that any positive change made through politics will only be very temporary at best. The problems in our nation and world are soul level, not government level. At best, Trump is a much more moral president than he's been as a human being previously and he moves the ball positively a few yards, but I'm not going to be baited into giving in to a false dichotomy.
