Unlike the White House, the US Military is not opposed to sensibly quarantining troops returning from West Africa.

At least the troops will be healthy.

Oh look, the NYC doctor lied about his self-quarantine. Some hero.

This nurse is "appalled" that she's expected to quarantine herself.

I hope her community ostracizes her.

and I hope any patient who has her as a HCP, asks for another nurse.

To be fair, they locked her in a tent outdoors for three days under threats of force if she tried to leave, with no heat (Its been 38-40 here in NY at night lately) and only a box with a bag in it to use as a bathroom with no privacy from the view port, Id be pissed too, at the very least they should have had her in an actual hospital.
They were dumb enough to leave her I-phone though so she documented everything will will probably win a rights violation lawsuit because of the environment they put her in, though it doesn't excuse her stupidity now.

Exactly. Yes, those conditions were bad, but she's been released to her house now. It's extremely irresponsible for her to insist that she's just going to do what she wants rather than take precautions.

this.

Her conditions were definitely a point of contention that should have been fixed, but her "i had no idea whats going on" schpeel, as ebola is in America for the first time fell on deaf ears. No one is that out of touch with reality... check that, no one but her is that out of touch with reality. Then you have the "well I'm home now, but I really don't give a hur de hur about self-quarantine, I'll do as I please and if someone else gets infected*, not my problem. "

*WHO states that ebola can incubate for up to 40 days and in 5% of cases, is transmittable without symptoms.

She's selfish, irresponsible, and a disgrace to the "health care profession"

PS Ebola might be spread by sneezes and can last several hours on surfaces when transmitted that way.

That was known since day one, but CDC refused to say it. WHO was saying it for a while.

Well, it seemed pretty obvious, but it's nice that the CDC is actually admitting it now.

Of course, they're also the guys who said it was totally safe to use public transportation if you weren't sick and there was no chance you could get it that way... but that you shouldn't use public transportation if you were sick, because you might spread it to somebody.

It's not hard to see why we don't have a lot of faith in our government at this point.
