As if 2016 hadn't already established itself as just the worst, it takes a parting shot with the most personal celebrity death of the year to me. Following the heart attack she suffered on December 23rd, Carrie Fisher has passed away at the all-too-young age of 60.
What can I say about the Princess that hasn't been said elsewhere? She was funny, classy, but never beholden to ceremony. She made no bones about the demons she had faced, and yet, she could always laugh about it all (even if the laughs grew a bit sarcastic at times). Carrie was a hero and a first crush all rolled into one, and I doubt there will ever be another like her. I had looked forward so much to seeing her at Star Wars Celebration in April, but I guess I'll never get to meet her in this life.
Prayers for her family, including her mother Debbie Reynolds and her daughter Billie Lourd (Billie played the young blonde communications officer at the Resistance base in TFA).
I for one am ready for 2017 already.

Like everyone else, I think of Princess Leia. But the older I got the more I liked reading about the person. Despite her problems, she also apparently was a huge kidder and up for lots of fun. Would have loved to have seen the young Fisher acting like a goof on the first trilogy sets.
Crazy. Here is Fisher at 19, auditioning for her part in SW: http://mashable.com/2016/12/27/carrie-f ... LFrVw0_sq8

Prayers to her family and friends.
She'll always be my favorite Disney Princess. |

And now, tragically (particularly for the Reynolds/Fisher family), Debbie Reynolds has followed her daughter in death, succumbing to a stroke one day after Carrie died. Pray for this family. I cannot imagine what they are going through right now.
