It's the humidity that makes you swat so much.
We were going to hit the canyon yesterday, but my flight was delayed over two hrs so we couldn't make the drive at that point.
My wife is here for a conference/ training and I'm just goofing off all week.

I expected people to be more tan out here, but I think it's so hot that people go inside after noon...

Unrelated to anything, I rented Kong: Skull Island the other day. It was pretty good.
I liked the setting (just after the Vietnam War). That made it stand out a little. It definitely fell into some standard genre traps (always-right "virtuous" characters vs. evil obsessed military guy, most notably) and never got me to give a crap about the designated hero couple, but I felt like things were generally handled well and it moved along at a good pace. Stay tuned for the obligatory post-credits "oh, yeah, this is supposed to be the start of a cinematic universe" scene. |

Kong was not bad. It was the last thing I saw in the theater, I think.

Definitely agree about the cliches. I was surprised the family man soldier got killed since he seemed like the best guy. I wish Atomic Blonde was a little better but of late my favorite film was Girls Trip.

Good point.
I've heard good things about Atomic Blonde and Girls' Trip. I think the humor in GT is probably a little raunchy for me, but I might check out one or both once they hit the ol' Redbox. I'm a lot more willing to take a chance for a buck fifty than for theater prices. |

Mega construx heroes are out!
Picked up he-man, skeletor, alien and marine and Picard and borg. I'll try to get a pick later, but these are a lot of fun. Hope they keep going with motu and add in thundercats. Almost forgot, the xeno comes with two facehuggers, one running and another molded to fit on mega construx human figure heads... awesome! |
