Transformers Generations

Mixing things up a bit. Let's have one forum for toy discussion. We can have multiple threads, or just one thread, doesn't matter, but let's try having it all in one place for a while and see if that doesn't help discussion. '

And just a reminder... we don't really mod... anything... so thread drift is not a problem. However I left the General forums because some topics require more time/seriousness/devotion... I.E. more than "drift"

All the other toy forums are under archives, so we can bring them back if everyone hates this.

Voyager Whirl!

Boughten!

I wish he was actually a little LESS geewun, because I love the Whirl in More Than Meets The Eye (the comic), but I'll still buy him because he's Whirl, and he's a lot better than the custom I was planning.

Seriously?

It looks like a Bayformer.

There's no twisted metal detailing at all! You're like a crazy person.

But I can forgive (and attempt to rectify) your ignorance. Here, have a look at G1 Whirl:

The new Generations Whirl is a near perfect modern rendition of that toy.

Yep. He definitely is Whirl. He looks good.

Hopefully, Roadbuster is coming.

I always thought Roadbuster looked cool, but I never had him. I'd definitely be in for a modern rendition.

I'm not sure Hasbro would fork out the licensing money to do an accurate one, though. Some Japanese company just came out with a nice figure of that design, linked to the original source, Dorvak. Some pics:

Pretty neat, but not a must-have enough character to drop big money, IMO. However, I'd be all over a $20 Hasbro version.

Holy crap, I got Metroplex.

I'm not allowed to open him yet, since he's technically an anniversary present, but I was shocked to see him at my local (generally pretty lame) TRU yesterday, and my wife okayed him as an anniversary splurge.

I will say that the box is HUGE and he's got some nice heft in boxed form. I really like the big illustration on the side, too. I may save it.

When I was a kid, I kept a bunch of my Transformers in G1 Metroplex's box. I'm a little tempted to keep this box and try to do the same, but I doubt it would be as effective these days. :)

Hat trick!

My wife is an enabler, so she let me open Metroplex yesterday and he's HUGE. Where am I gonna put this thing?

Anyway, most of yesterday was devoted to putting on stickers (he's got 98). I was amused to find that somebody had translated them from Cybertronian to English. Info below:

1-25. White small print: STAND CLEAR WHEN ALARM SOUNDS
Yellow Print: DANGER White side: BAY (01, 02, etc. matches sticker number)

26. BEWARE OF BLAST
28. AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY
31. STAY CLEAR DURING TRANSFORMATION
45. STAY CLEAR
49. DANGER
62. SLAMMER (which is funny, as it’s Scamper pictured)
65. MAIN REACTOR
66. 1 2 3
67. OVERRIDE
69. 4 5 6
70. OVERRIDE, EGW 102, MAW 1110, DBW 930
71. METROPLEX TITAN CLASS –SOUNDWAVE(in "Decepticon Graffiti" font)
72. INTERLOCK, DYNOTHERMS, MEGA THRUSTERS
73. LOCK 1, LOCK 2, LOCK 3
75. AMMO, AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY
76. ENERGON CELLS, AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY
78. DANGER x 2
82. LOCK 4, LOCK 5, LOCK 6
83. MATRIX SCAN
85. MP 01
88. 1
89. 0 (zero)
90. P
91. M
92 & 93. CAUTION
96. AUTOBOT CITY PRIMARY INTERLINK

Number 72 is pure gold. I'm going to have to look that one up tonight and see which sticker it was. Also, I was amused to find out that the graffiti I saw was Soundwave tagging him. Or maybe it was Rumble, tagging by proxy; that seems more likely.

Anyway, I'm going to try and get some pics posted, as I am able. And then build an extra room on the house for him to live in or something.

Okay, so I'm having a hard time getting pictures.

But I can at least show you the box.

Image

As you can see, using the accepted Heli measuring system, he's approximately 4.75 Junkions tall.
